Attention: Parents with children that have asthma
Asthma Education Classes are now available for patients you feel need more education on asthma. Classes are held on an individualized or group basis. An Asthma Educator will meet with the family on a one-to-one or group basis and provide a thorough Asthma Education session based on the NHLBI guidelines. The Asthma Educator will collaborate with the healthcare provider in educating a family with child/children that has/have asthma.
Primary Goals for Asthma Education Classes:
- Decrease Emergency Room visits
- Decrease Hospitalizations
- Decrease School Absenteeism
- Increase Families Knowledge on Asthma
- Improve Child’s Quality of Life**
What can the Asthma Educator provide to the Families?
- Asthma education classes provided in a friendly environment & easy to understand language
- Collaborates with the child’s primary healthcare provider
- Asthma Education classes can be provided in either Spanish or English depending upon the need of the family
- Asthma material in the language needed (Spanish/English)
- Hands-on instructions on the use of Asthma Devices/Tools
- Provide the patient/family with an Asthma Action Plan based on the medications prescribed by their healthcare provider
- Identify & refer to other resources based on families needs
Patients targeted:
- Children with the diagnosis of Asthma
- All age groups (18 and under)
- Children living in Nueces and surrounding counties
- All types of Health Insurances accepted
